Spandrel Glass

Spandrel glass is an opacified glass used in facades to conceal structural, mechanical, and electrical elements between floors. We apply an opacifying agent, such as ceramic frit or silicone-based paint, to the glass substrate. Spandrel glass comes in a variety of standard and customizable colors, allowing it to complement adjacent glass or other materials. Due to its higher heat absorption, Hartung heat-treats all spandrel products to prevent thermal stress and ensure durability. Spandrel glass is not suitable for applications without a uniform, opaque backdrop or direct outdoor exposure.
